Ana Jordão (PT/DE) is a Berlin-based contemporary circus creator and performer working at the intersection of circus and dance. Her practice is marked by an innovative use of circus techniques, weaving hybrid languages that challenge and expand the boundaries of form.

Her debut solo I AM (K)NOT announced her voice as a contemporary circus author, while CAN A SHADOW HAVE A PERSON? earned her international recognition and a Circus Next shortlist nomination in 2018. In her current creation, A body and other objects, she explores the interplay between hair-hanging, partnering, martial arts, and illusion, tracing new ways of perceiving the body.

Ana’s artistic activity extends beyond her own stage work: she collaborates as an outside eye, co-researcher, and mentor, and has been commissioned to create site-specific works, performance lectures, and thematic creations. Her work unfolds across diverse contexts, always seeking dialogue between disciplines, spaces, and audiences.

Vincent Kollar began his circus training at Die Etage (Berlin), and holds a BA in Circus Arts from CODARTS. A pioneer in meteor manipulation, he is regarded as one of the leading contemporary practitioners of this traditional Chinese circus discipline. His solo works explore themes of risk and sustainability, often incorporating fire, powder, water, and other volatile materials.

He has toured internationally with The Great Bean by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, and currently collaborates with Cie Marta & Kim (FASE) as well as Ana Jordão in A body and other objects. A certified rigger, Vincent is equally fascinated by the creative potential of rigging within circus creation and is currently touring as rigger for Diana Salles’s award-winning production DELUSIONAL.

A body and other objects is an entrancing and intimate exploration of the spectrum between gravity and weightlessness, corporeality and objecthood, reality and illusion. Seemingly weightless, a body floats in space as time slows down and perception begins to shift.

The piece is both strange and tender, powerful and subtle. Hair-hanging merges with partnering, martial arts, object manipulation, and contemporary illusion to form a highly visual investigation of physics and mechanics, infused with a sense of impossibility that resonates with our shared fantasy of weightlessness.

Through deep trust and intricate collaboration, Ana and Vincent open a space where the mechanics of connection are laid bare. At times, this connection appears through touch; at others, through strings, ropes, carabiners, or splicing needles, as bodies and objects remain continuously linked and intertwined. By exposing the artistry and performativity of rigging, the work moves fluidly between illusion and revelation.

Accompanied by Fabian Laute’s rich musical composition, A body and other objects invites audiences to rediscover the magic of the everyday and to contemplate the profound interconnectedness of all things, animate and inanimate alike.
