Cia. Nadine Gerspacher

Cía. Nadine Gerspacher is an independent artistic project based in Freiburg. It serves as a platform for Nadine Gerspacher’s own works, as well as for co-productions with other artists, dance institutions, and companies.

Nadine’s central artistic language is a form of everyday dance theatre. She creates small worlds inhabited by eccentric characters, where the absurd, the poetic, and unfiltered physicality come together in a narrative form. Humor, grotesque moments, and vulnerability play a central role in her pieces.

In its productions, the company creates striking images that move audiences and also appeal to younger or less experienced spectators. The company also organizes workshops for professional and semi-professional dancers, as well as for dance and movement enthusiasts.

Non-upgraded Existence

After The Age of Aquarium (2019) and Let it Rain (2020), Nadine Gerspacher presents the boldest and most surprising creation of her trilogy, Non-Upgraded Existence. A family portrays the striking search for a better future, allowing the audience to experience alongside them the sharpest emotional shifts: from the joyful laughter of a young daughter to the violent escalations of arguments between the parents.

The family of five unleashes its deepest desires in its pursuit of happiness and humanity through a compelling dance-theatre piece filled with poetry.
