Her work in education and arts management is anchored by the founding and direction of Hebra, an independent project with an international scope encompassing Hebra Contemporary Training and Hebra Plataforma Escénica. Through this collective platform, created from a desire to open spaces of complete creative freedom, she has developed performance laboratories focused on embodied memory, identity, and women’s narratives in the arts. She is also the creator of the ongoing training methodology “Fusión del Movimiento” (Movement Fusion), a technical hybridization approach that she regularly teaches at institutions devoted to physical theatre, urban dance, and professional dance companies.
Her choreographic practice also extends into new media and transnational collaborative networks, earning awards for Best Direction and Best Choreography at international dance-film festivals in Europe and Latin America. Her strong connection to Panama and the Central American dance scene is reaffirmed by her selection by Fundación PRISMA Danza to lead the choreographic direction of PRISMA Lab 2026, an intensive Central American creation laboratory. Through these encounters, Isela continues to build bridges for cultural transformation, approaching the moving body as a powerful social and interpretive manifesto.
Mientras Pertenecemos
In Latin America, color inhabits memory. It is present in markets, textiles, celebrations, landscapes, and bodies. It holds territories, inheritances, encounters, contradictions, and all that, generation after generation, we have transformed.
Mientras pertenecemos takes Mexican pink as a shared color through which to encounter identities that are anything but uniform.
A group of Central American artists gathers around this pink. Beneath it, each body holds its own color: that of a memory, an origin, a family, a landscape, a resistance, a desire.
Pink brings us together, but it does not erase.
Every body carries a story. Every story has its own colors.
Color and memory.
Color and identity.
Vibrate, heal, move forward.
Mexican pink is not a trend. It is a living tradition: a color that travels through time, transforms, and reappears.
