Roni Chadash is a choreographer, dancer and contemporary dance teacher based in Tel Aviv. In her research on movement, Roni deconstructs the body into multiple, independently functioning joints. She constantly searches for instinctive, emotional and raw motives for movement. Her works are characterized by the attempt to deconstruct the body, movement, image, the audience-artist relationship and the act of performance itself. The way she treats the body detaches it from history, stereotypes and dictated labels and confronts it with a naked present. 

Born in 1990, Roni grew up in Kfar Shmaryahu and graduated with honors from the dance department of Hayuval High School in Herzliya, under the direction of Galya Gat. After a two-year break from dance, she studied at the Vertigo training program (2011-2012) and subsequently at the Gaaton Dance Workshop (2012-2013). Roni’s first solo work for the stage, “Ani-Ma,” was an evolution of her first dance video, “Spineless,” and won the prestigious Suzanne Dellal Shades in Dance Award in 2015. ​ 

In her early years of creation, Roni focused on solo works, exploring the specific instincts, desires, and physicalities of her body, leading to the development of a distinctive movement language and vocabulary. Since 2017, she has collaborated with various artists, exploring the intersection between her movement language and their bodies. Roni’s works have received numerous national and international awards for their originality and innovative movement language and have been performed around the world. She has also been commissioned to create pieces for theaters abroad, including the Staatstheater Kassel and the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern.
