Boca Tuya | “Caress them in a way that hurts a little”

About the piece

To tell them to caress you in a way that hurts a little is to embrace the paradox of intimacy: the simultaneous desire for sweetness and the need for a touch that stirs the soul. It speaks to the complexity of human connection, where vulnerability and passion intersect. This work evokes a longing for a depth of sensation that transcends mere physicality, delving into the realms of emotional intimacy and the bittersweet ecstasy of love.

About the company

Boca Tuya is a New York-based artistic incubator that offers mature contemporary dance artists the high-caliber, multifaceted experiences that characterize a holistic life in the arts. Since 2018, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to visibility and artistic excellence, showcasing the talents of New York’s finest movement artists and establishing a company culture that prioritizes the well-being, economic stability, and personal achievement of our dancers. Through extensive opportunities for stage work, national and international touring, educational outreach, and choreographic commissions, we exist to provide our dancers with the resources they need to live as artists rather than pursue art as a means of living.
