About the company
Dancer, teacher choreographer, and video director, Omar was part of DELFOS contemporary dance company, as founding partner, from 1993 to 2017. He has received the National Dance Award as performer and choreographer twice, and won seven scholarships from FONCA (National and State Fund for Culture and the Arts in Mexico). In 2009 Omar became the first Mexican choreographer to receive the Guggenheim Grant. In 2014 he joined the SNCA (National System of Art Creators), and from 2018 to 2020 he received the Grant as a Creator / Performer with Trajectory from FONCA, which are two of the most important recognitions for artists in Mexico.
His short film _Fifth Wall_, co-directed with Dutch Rall, was selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner (2013), as was his short _Shake and Serve_ (2014). Omar is a member of the Bates University Dance Festival faculty since 2010.
